The Prevent Duty
In June 2015, the Department for Education (DfE) published new guidance on ‘The Prevent Duty’ which prescribes new legal responsibilities on all schools in the UK. The Prevent Duty is part of our wider safeguarding duties to protect children from harm. The Prevent Duty requires school staff to be able to identify children who are vulnerable to radicalisation and to know how to respond to this.
Staff awareness has been raised in September 2015 and further training took place during November 2015 and December 2015 on ‘The Prevent Duty’.
Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, E-Safety Policy and Lettings Policy have been updated to include the Prevent Duty.
